- I agree with you somewhat. IMI, two things got this deal going. Helmut
- Jost arriving at Escom to do the hatchet job. And also let us not
- underestimate Viscorps interest. They were doing a pilot test of their
- first generation settop box called the ED (check http:///.vistv.com) in
- Detroit with some households, and I suspect it is going well, coupled with
- the fact that they announced as long ago as last year that their second
- generation settop would be Amiga based.
-
- I donÂșt believe they will kill the Amiga development, because it is in
- their interest that the hardware and OS develops so as to filter down to
- the settop. In other words its like trying to build a Cd32 without having
- a base architecture like the A1200/A4000 to borrow from. This is what
- Apple attempted with the Bandai/Pippen, but the ED thing is a whole new
- ball game, and it is somewhat different from the Internet settops as well.
- All in all, as someone else said elewhere, this is the first time in along
- time, a company will be actually depending on the Amiga itself.
